There are several types of English Tea Cakes. The most traditional is a fruit bun, best served toasted with butter. Dere Street’s sweet tea cakes are close to being a cross between a cookie and a soft scone. While spreading a little butter on top enhances the flavor, it is not necessary. These little cakes are delicious eaten all on their own, especially with a cup of tea.
